More than 500 professionals will work on the operation and maintenance of more than 10 of Petrobras' platforms undergoing decommissioning in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará (RNCE).
The Forship Group has signed a new contract with Petrobras and started the largest mobilisation of professionals in its history in 2026. The team will be responsible for integrated operations, maintenance, inspection and operational support services on the Decommissioning Asset Management (GAD) platforms, located in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará (RNCE). The scope of work also includes activities associated with structure removal, metal construction and assembly, and the provision of resources necessary for contractual execution.
Forship has maintained a partnership with Petrobras for almost three decades. Over this period, the company has expanded its presence across different company operations, such as the Sergipe and Alagoas Exploration and Production Operations Unit (UO-SEAL) and the Boaventura Energy Complex in Rio de Janeiro. The new contract represents another milestone in this journey.
'All this history of services provided at UO-SEAL, which is the unit with operational characteristics similar to RNCE, has given us the necessary expertise to take on this even greater challenge of mobilising around 500 professionals,' states Hudson Azevedo, general project manager at Forship.
'Our strategy is to apply the lessons learnt at SEAL to RNCE and, likewise, incorporate new good practices developed in this operation and share them with Sergipe,' he adds.
Mobilisation reinforces operations in the north-east
According to project manager Raylton Sales, the main challenge is meeting Petrobras' contractual requirements, which involve technical qualifications, proven experience, mandatory training, specific certifications and documentary compliance.
In addition to recruitment, all documentation, training and clearance for boarding must be completed within challenging timeframes, ensuring that each professional is ready to begin their activities.
The mobilisation not only consolidates the largest operation ever conducted by Forship, but also reinforces its role in highly complex contracts for the oil and gas sector.
