Award-winning innovator Return To Scene Ltd, part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has strengthened its relationship with north-east charity CLAN Cancer Support once again, transferring digital solutions usually utilised in oil and gas to deliver tangible benefits to the team at CLAN.

Building on a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative launched in 2015 that delivered a virtual tour of CLAN House and its residential Haven facility for cancer patients and their families travelling to Aberdeen for treatment, Return To Scene has now delivered a virtual tour of the charity’s new CLAN Crimond base.

Web-based and easily accessible, the virtual tours are a brilliant source of information for people affected by cancer, their families and carers, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the facilities before making their first visit to access CLAN’s wide range of wellbeing services. For Return To Scene, virtual tours are a bolt-on deliverable to its core R2S software.

CLAN’s Crimond facility officially opened in March 2018, providing drop in and consultation services and access to a wide range of support services to the local population for the Peterhead and Fraserburgh areas.  While it has been a busy first few months for Crimond, it is hoped that the virtual tour will provide greater awareness of just what the facility has to offer.

Laura Fairley, Return To Scene’s Market Development Manager, adds:

“It is always humbling to work alongside the team at CLAN and I am delighted to have been involved in this CSR initiative since it’s outset back in 2015.

There are so many different ways to approach CSR as a business that delivers value to both the recipient and organisation.  On this project, giving time and skills has allowed us to train our team on new survey methods and support our ongoing R&D programme while delivering an important tool to the CLAN team.  There is also no denying that everyone of our team involved in this initiative has taken away much, much more.  We are looking forward to working with CLAN towards the digital capture of all of its facilities in the region.”

Dr Colette Backwell, CLAN Cancer Support Chief Executive, adds:

“CLAN Cancer Support’s relationship with Return To Scene illustrates perfectly how third sector organisations and the business community can work together to the benefit of both organisations.

“Having developed our relationship with the team since 2015, we are able to work together to identify how Return To Scene could utilise the skills of their employees while helping the third sector.

“The virtual tours allow clients, and potential CLAN clients, the opportunity to view our facilities and become familiar with what they are going to see and experience when they come to CLAN House in Aberdeen or CLAN Crimond. Clients who have used the virtual tours before stepping through our doors have commented how much it has helped them as our facilities felt familiar from their first moment and it also helped to answer any questions about what they might experience.

“Through working with our teams across our network of community-based facilities, the Return to Scene team has also actively got involved with our Go Purple For CLAN campaign along with helping to raise awareness of our services through their support at various industry events.

“On behalf of everyone at CLAN, I cannot thank the team at Return To Scene enough for their commitment to CSR and developing the relationship between our organisations.”
