Cadeler has been awarded a foundation installation contract from Ørsted for the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm in the North Sea. The plant is expected to have 2.85GW of capacity and power more than three million UK homes.

Cadeler has stated that the installation work should start in 2026, before Hornsea 3 reaches start-up in 2027.

The contractor will carry out activities using its F-class vessel, currently being built by COSCO Heavy Industries for the transportation and installation of the foundations.

Ørsted plans to take a final investment decision (FID) on the project by the end of 2022.
