Scottish Development International (SDI), the specialist inward investment and export trade organisation of the Scottish Government, is delighted to invite you to a media briefing in London focused exclusively on the Scottish energy industry. The event will deliver an overview of the Scottish energy landscape across both the oil and gas and renewables sectors, provide an update on energy development taking place in the country, and discuss the international opportunities for the Scottish energy sector as we move into 2015.

Fergus Ewing MSP, Scottish Minister for Business, Energy and Tourism, will deliver the keynote speech, followed by senior representatives from Scottish Development International who will provide detailed updates on the oil, gas and renewable sectors’ current operations and aspirations at home and abroad. The speeches will be followed by a question and answer session.

2015 will be a pivotal year for the Scottish energy sector. Oil and gas supply chain exports outstripped domestic sales for the first time in 2013/14, indicating growing international demand for Scotland’s unrivalled breadth and depth of skills, including in offshore and deepwater engineering, and underpinning the significant role that Scottish businesses can play in the increasingly interconnected global industry.

Meanwhile, this track record, combined with early prioritised investment in renewable infrastructure, innovative engineering and world-class research, has established Scotland as a centre for global investment in renewable energy and low carbon technology. SDI is in regular dialogue with governments and companies throughout the world to discuss further investment opportunities in Scotland as well as the export of Scottish products, skills and expertise abroad. This event will provide an overview of SDI’s recent activities and its plans for 2015.
