The Department of the Interior (DoI) of the United States has granted approval to Equinor and BP's Empire Wind project. The initiative involves the construction of an offshore wind farm off in the state of New York.

According to predictions from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Empire Wind will generate power for over 700,000 American homes per year once it's up and running.

Empire Wind will be composed by two distinct facilities (Empire Wind I, with 816MW, and II, with 1.26GW), which together will feature 147 Vestas turbines.
