In Maputo, Mozambique, the Coral Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project in Mozambique Area 4, in which CNPC participates, had its first LNG product shipped out, kicking off full-chain operation. This is the first cargo of LNG exported by sea from East Africa, making Mozambique an LNG exporter.
The project is the first ultra-deepwater FLNG project in the world, the largest in Africa and the second-largest FLNG project in the world. With a depth of more than 2,000 meters, the world's most cutting-edge deepwater LNG technology is applied to develop an "underwater production + FLNG" facility.
The project is jointly undertaken and operated by Eni, CNPC, ExxonMobil, ENH, GalP and KOGAS.
The offshore area of eastern Mozambique is an emerging hotspot of global natural gas exploration and development. As an important achievement of China-Mozambique energy cooperation, the successful commissioning of the project will drive local socioeconomic development, and promote the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and practical energy cooperation between China and Africa.
