Germany’s First LNG Terminal, Wilhelmshaven Is Now Fully Commissioned

Twitter

Operator Uniper has announced that its Wilhelmshaven liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal has commenced operations on 17 December as scheduled. Located in Lower Saxony, this is Germany’s first LNG terminal.

Höegh Esperanza, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) chartered by the German government from Höegh LNG, has already arrived at the terminal.

Regasification of LNG will commence before Christmas and later transported through the new Wilhelmshaven Connector Pipeline.

The Wilhelmshaven terminal required ten months of construction work. Now, it will be responsible for importing at least 5 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year.
