ADNOC has signed a sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with GAIL related to its Das Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant for the supply of over 0.52 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) of LNG. This SPA turns the previously signed heads of agreement between the two parties into a definitive agreement.

Das Island's is the third longest operational LNG facility in the world, active since 1977. It currently undergoes an expansion project by ADNOC to boost gas exports from offshore to onshore, which should see Das Island increasing its capacity from 6mmtpa to nearly 7mmtpa.

Delivery of the LNG cargoes will start in 2026, with the supply agreement being valid for 10 years.
