Dr. Philip Rubini from the University of Hull visits Cofely Fabricom Engineering Solutions to discuss opportunities for collaboration.
Dr. Philip Rubini, CEng, FIChemE, MIET, Head of Chemical Engineering at the University of Hull visited Cofely Fabricom Engineering Solutions (CFES), part of Cofely Fabricom (GDF SUEZ), earlier this month to discuss opportunities for collaboration.
CFES’ Senior Operations Manager, Clive Rounce explained:
“We invited Dr. Rubini to CFES because Chemical Engineering is central to our business and we are delighted to see this new course in our region. We look forward to developing our relationship with the University of Hull.”
Dr Philip Rubini commented:
“The University of Hull launched Chemical Engineering with a first cohort of just 14 students in October 2012. This year we have a total of 130 students in our First Year and Foundation Year with an expectation of a First Year cohort of over 100 students in future years.
The University provided an initial investment of over £500k in equipment and lab refurbishment for teaching Chemical Engineering and has further invested in new academic staff – we now have 9 Chemical Engineering academics and aim to achieve a department with a cohort of over 300 students and 15 academic staff in the next few years.
Support from local Chemical and Process industry is very important to us, our mission is to be able to educate quality Chemical Engineering graduates, who have experience of local industry and are ready and willing to work in the region.”
