NSRI (National Subsea Research Initiative) will be hosting an event on 17 May to showcase the facilities that are currently on offer to support the subsea developer community with testing.

The workshop will welcome six industry experts from a number of organisations including the National Physical Laboratory, the Underwater Centre and Exova Group to provide an insight into how their facilities can help to address the immediate and future testing requirements of the developer community as the strive to introduce novel products into the oil and gas industry.

The event is sponsored by the National Hyperbaric Centre, TWI, JFD and Doosan.

Dr. Gordon Drummond, project director of NSRI said: “We hope this event will help to identify the most relevant contacts and collaborations needed to ensure the industry is utilising the country’s subsea testing and development facilities to its full potential.”

NSRI is the focal point for subsea research and development, bringing together industry, developers and academia to collaborate effectively to fast-track the introduction of new technology which will unlock the challenges facing North Sea fields and help the UK maintain its global position.

NSRI explores where the industry is heading in terms of subsea infrastructure and identifies the technologies needed to help it get there, supporting field development and expansion in both deep and shallow waters.
