Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) has secured final authorisation from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for gas exports at the US$38.7bn (£29.6bn) Alaska LNG pipeline project.

The approval allows the project to export LNG to all countries, including those not included within a US free trade agreement.

Including the construction of approximately 1,400km of pipelines, the Alaska LNG pipeline project will also include a new 20m tonnes per annum liquefaction facility at Nikiski, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, and a gas treatment plant in the Prudhoe Bay.

Natural gas produced at the Prudhoe Bay and Point Thomson oil and gas fields will be supplied into the project.
