Shell has awarded an integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (iEPCI) contract for the Sparta oil field to TechnipFMC. The offshore development is located in the US Gulf of Mexico and is operated by Shell (51%) in a partnership with Equinor (49%).

The value of the iEPCI contract has not been revealed, but is estimated to range between US$250m and US$500m. Following the award, TechnipFMC will be responsible for the manufacturing and installation of subsea production systems, umbilicals, risers and flowlines for the project.

Sparta is scheduled to begin production in 2028, reaching a peak of 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) afterwards.
