The Barcarena liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Pará, Brazil, has been officially commissioned by New Fortress Energy. The terminal was built to have a capacity of six million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

Barcarena's infrastructure includes the Energos Celsius floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which is the only natural gas supply in northern Brazil. A 15-year supply agreement with Norsk Hydro's Alunorte refinery is already in place.

According to the agreement, Alunorte will receive 30 trillion British thermal units (TBtus) of natural gas per year. The amount is enough to reduce the refinery's annual carbon emissions by 700,000 tonnes.

Barcarena will also provide LNG to a 630MW power plant under development by New Fortress Energy adjacent to the terminal. Conclusion of works is scheduled for 2025.
