A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Kanat Bozumbayev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took place in Moscow today.
The parties addressed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the gas sector, including, inter alia, Russian and Kazakh gas supplies and issues related to gas transit, processing and marketing.
Background
The proven reserves of natural gas in the Republic of Kazakhstan amount to some 3.7 trillion cubic meters. In 2016, the Gazprom Group sold 2.8 billion cubic meters of gas in Kazakhstan.
Since 2002, Gazprom and KazMunayGas have successfully collaborated within the KazRosGas joint venture established on a parity basis with the purpose of buying gas from the Karachaganak field, processing it at the Orenburg gas processing plant and selling it to consumers in Kazakhstan and Russia.
