DNV has agreed to acquire WellSpot, the subsea wellhead fatigue management software developed and operated by Equinor over the past 15 years. Renamed Wellhead Fatigue Manager, the platform will be operated and commercialised by DNV, with Equinor and Aker BP among its first users.

Announced on 24 August, the agreement brings together wellhead data, engineering analysis and standardised workflows in one digital environment. The platform is designed to support monitoring and assessment across the lifecycle of subsea wells.

Repeated loading can accumulate fatigue damage in wellhead components. DNV says the software supports a systematic view of that damage, helping operators assess risks and plan interventions. It integrates the company’s DNV-RP-E104 methodology for wellhead fatigue analysis.

The approach consolidates assessments that have often relied on separate tools and customised processes. DNV intends to continue developing the platform and adding features as technical standards and operational requirements evolve.

Operator information remains accessible only to that operator and its authorised partners, according to DNV. The commercialisation gives more offshore businesses access to a technology developed within Equinor, while retaining separation between companies’ operational datasets.
