SLB has secured four integrated well construction contracts from Aramco covering more than 450 wells in Saudi Arabia. Announced on 24 September, the awards will run for three years, with an optional extension of up to two years.

The technology focus is SLB’s integrated operating model, which connects planning and execution with digital drilling workflows. The service combines automated drilling, formation evaluation, fluids, cementing and completions within an end-to-end well delivery programme.

SLB says the approach is intended to improve efficiency, consistency and well performance across large drilling campaigns and different reservoir environments. Connecting the stages of well construction can also give teams a more coordinated view of the work from planning through completion.

The announcement marks a wider deployment of the integrated model within Aramco’s oil and gas development activities. It is a contract award and technology deployment commitment; the release does not quantify realised cost savings or drilling-time reductions for the new programme.

The scale of the awards illustrates how digital workflows and automation are moving into multi-year well construction programmes. Execution across hundreds of wells will make repeatability and coordination central to the technology’s operational application.
