Baker Hughes has won an offshore stimulation services contract from bp for its UK North Sea operations. The agreement will use vessel-based technology to support new well development and improve recovery from mature fields.

Announced on 4 September, the award includes Baker Hughes’ StimFORCE modular stimulation package. The system will support well completions and production enhancement work, with a UK operating base and local supply chain supporting delivery.

Baker Hughes says the dedicated vessel approach provides flexibility in scheduling and execution. The package is designed to improve operational reliability, reduce non-productive time and support reservoir recovery, although the announcement does not disclose contract value or quantified production gains.

The technical emphasis is on combining stimulation equipment with intervention services and production optimisation. For offshore operators, those capabilities can help target wells where reservoir performance has declined or where completion work is needed before production begins.

The bp award gives the modular system a further application across an established offshore portfolio. It also reflects the continuing role of well intervention technology in developing new resources while extracting additional value from existing North Sea infrastructure.
